What Drives My Thinking

These are the sources of much of my inspiration, reflection, and development.  There is much wisdom is reading across a wide variety of opinions but still using your God-given six inches between your ears to process what you read.

  • People of the Second Chance — Radical Leadership. Scandalous grace. Second chances. Created by Mike Foster & Jud Wilhite to promote grace in life and leadership, POTSC is making an unreal impact as advocates of the vulnerable, forgotten, and left behind in our world.
  • Perry Noble — Lead Pastor of NewSpring Church in Anderson, SC. Listen to his podcasts, he will rock your world.
  • Michael Hyatt — Chairman & CEO, Thomas Nelson Publishers. One of the most insightful and practically helpful leader, innovator, and visioncaster you will ever meet.
  • History in the Making (Ben Arment) — Creator of Dream Year, The Whiteboard Sessions, and STORY in Chicago. Get his book, Church in the Making; it is a must-read for church planters.
  • Steven Furtick — Lead Pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC. God is doing amazing things through Elevation and Steven’s leadership is one of the biggest reasons why God is blessing their ministry.
  • Leading Smart (Tim Stevens) — One of the brightest minds and cutting edge leaders in today’s church world, Tim is on staff at Granger Community Church in Granger, IN.
  • StuffChristianslike.net (Jonathan Acuff) — Probably the funniest blog that I’ve read in a long time. Get Jon’s book, Stuff Christians Like; you will laugh so hard you might cry.
  • ChurchMarketingSucks.com — Let’s be honest, most of church marketing does in fact suck. For those who might be offended by the term “sucks”, you can visit churchmarketingstinks.com… which just redirects to Church Marketing Sucks.
  • Passion City Church (Louie Giglio) — Louie recently started a church plant in downtown Atlanta and it has been amazing to see how his ministry has evolved from the Passion Conferences into being a church planter.
  • Vintage Faith (Dan Kimball) — One of the leading voices in creating a relevant faith for our ever-changing culture.
  • Mars Hill (Greater Seattle area) — Mars Hill is making a phenomenal impact in one of the most unchurched cities in the U.S.
  • The Resurgence (Mark Driscoll) — Lead Pastor of the Mars Hill Seattle church. One of the most impacting and passionate preachers and modern theologians you will ever hear.
  • Donald Miller — Author of the best-selling book, Blue Like Jazz, and others. He has one of the most honest and unassuming outlooks on faith that I’ve ever seen.
  • Erwin McManus — The primary communicator and cultural architect of Mosaic in Los Angeles, the author of An Unstoppable Force, and founder of Awaken, a creative society intent on maximizing each person’s development of their God-given potential.
